FRIDAYS AT CLUB VINO

Join us for a new monthly celebration of Italian food and wine at Mortimer House Kitchen. Each month, our chef team will create a one-night-only tasting menu inspired by a different Italian region, with perfectly paired wines selected in partnership with Liberty Wines. Hosted on Friday evenings, the dinners offer a guided journey through Italy’s rich culinary landscape, led by our in-house maître d’ along with Liberty’s expert sommeliers.

Spaces are limited and booking is essential.

ESCAPE TO PUGLIA

We begin our Club Vino journey in Puglia, with a sun-soaked menu inspired by the childhood memories of our restaurant manager, Roberto Ronco. Born and raised in the region’s deep south, Roberto grew up surrounded by bold, simple flavours, ripe tomatoes, freshly baked focaccia, and seafood straight from the Adriatic.

This one-night-only menu brings those memories to the table, beginning with a generous spread of Apulian antipasti to share: burrata with marinated courgettes, Capocollo from Martina Franca, and house-baked focaccia served with crisp tarallini and sweet cherry tomatoes. A traditional orecchiette follows, tossed in broccoli cream with puntarelle and pecorino from Gargano. For the main course, grilled octopus is served with roasted potatoes and a classic citronette (lemon and olive oil). Dessert is a pasticciotto Leccese, a traditional Pugliese custard-filled pastry from the baroque city of Lecce.

Each course is paired with carefully selected wines from Liberty Wines, including a fresh Apulian white, a vibrant Fiano-Greco, and a bright Primitivo Rosato. A sweet, floral Aleatico rounds off the evening.

ESCAPE TO ABRUZZO

In October, Club Vino travels to Abruzzo, home region of our head chef, Gianluigi Di Ghionno, for a heartier, autumnal expression of central Italy. Nestled between the Apennine mountains and the Adriatic coast, Abruzzo is known for its rich, rustic cuisine, robust flavours, handmade pastas, slow-cooked meats, and mountain herbs.

For Gianluigi, this menu is a return to his roots—an homage to the dishes he grew up with and the seasonal rhythms of his home region. Expect bold, generous cooking that celebrates the ingredients of the season, from game and mushrooms to sharp pecorino and saffron grown on the plains of L’Aquila.

Our wine pairings, once again curated in collaboration with Liberty Wines, will spotlight lesser-known varietals and producers, offering a chance to discover the depth and diversity of Abruzzese winemaking – full-bodied reds, elegant whites, and something unexpected to finish.
